From a hardened criminal to a spiritual
devout: Joe Wolfe

of connection to God. That connection began in a prison cell. Now Joe has

You are so very
much more than you think. You are special, and a very necessary part of everything that is. Be
assured, God made no mistakes. Many years ago,
(about thirty) an experience I can only describe as one of Divine Intervention and Revelation, occurred to
me while serving in prison a ten year sentence
for robbery. While never
having read a single word in any book on Spirituality and not one to dabble with the Bible,
the experience was profound and literally knocked me to my knees in reverence. |

It changed my
life in an instant. From a life of a
ruthless career criminal with no regard for fellow mankind and a life devoted to scams, stealing,
intimidation and serving the unquenchable thirsts of the ego's need for
control and temporary gratification, I was miraculously and quite suddenly
led to a very different path...one of a seeker of the Light. While the
experience only lasted a few short minutes, it proved to me that something very BIG and very powerful was behind
everything that
is.
This something saturated all life and all of its expressions with warm,
Loving Grace that had no beginning or no end. A gentle yet
magnanimous Power flowed first throughout my body then showed me a part of
"myself" that grew in dimension both inward and outward, comforting
me, as it lifted me into a realm of Peace and Love, as I'd never felt before.

For more than
a few people, prison is the starting point, onto the path of
enlightenment... Over thirty
years ago, (in 1975) this writer experienced what is usually described as an
out-of-body experience. It was coupled with a sensation of Being everything
in the general vicinity, including the room, the atmosphere outside the
window and the air between. It also included the trees directly outside and
the plants and grass and the slight breeze. I felt as if I were One with
everything. Unlike the
typical associations usually ascribed to these kinds of experiences, there
was no sensation of what is called an ’astral body’ but rather, an awareness
that “I” was everything. While seeming to float away from the body, the
sensation was accompanied by a succession of “sounds” which were as three
distinctive notes in progressive octave scale, like ‘do-re-me’ but each
note up the scale of the octave was as if all of the instruments in all of
the orchestras all over the world were playing in unparalleled harmony. The experience
was completely sudden and quite unexpected and more, it came even void of any
previous point of reference, that is, never having been a ‘seeker’ or a
student of the divine, it came as if liken to the cart before the horse, from
which I would begin a life-long search for knowledge and the Source for the
experience. It came
immediately after a day filled with apathy and despair, and after hours of
begging for help. It came after a period of Thankfulness and Gratitude for
having been delivered from a particularly dangerous situation, rescued from
certain demise to safety. The experience was so undeniable and so powerful
(while gentle and all Loving) it left an indelible effect that would forever
question the validity of the ego and the urgency to seek out the real source
for All and Everything. |

Many years later
I published the experience with the intention to share it with other souls,
who through their unproductive or harmful choices, found themselves confined
in prison. It is the true account of events as they occurred and led me to
